The Portland Temple! Such a wonderful & beautiful Temple of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are sacred places reserved for special Priesthood ordinances that cannot be performed elsewhere. These include the endowment and marriage & sealing for living persons as well as baptism, ordination, endowment, marriage and sealing by proxy for those who have passed beyond the veil without these ordinances.
Temple worship is reserved for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who are in good standing and hold current "Temple Recommends" which they receive through their Bishops and Stake Presidents. Although members of other faiths are not allowed entry into the Temples after they are dedicated all Temples have an Open House period after construction and before dedication where the public is invited to come inside for a tour, ask questions and enjoy the beauty of this sacred House of the Lord.
Meetinghouses of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints welcome people of all faiths to come and worship with members with a completely 'open door' policy. Missionaries and Members alike are available to answer questions and discuss the beliefs of the Church with anyone that is interested.Added July 23, 2017 by Janet Bates - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Great place to go and learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for yourself. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and has a visitor's center where anyone can walk in and learn about the significance of the temple and why Latter-day Saints value it so much. As one who has lived in Portland, this is one of the best tourist attractions this city has to offer.

This is truly one of my favorite places on earth. Need to get away from it all? Need some peace? Take some time to come walk around this building or sit and think. It's so calming and beautiful. The inside of the temple is equally peaceful as well. It isn't open to guests, but you can learn a lot about what goes on inside at their visitors center. Is very interesting.

Scavenger hunt and short movies or touch screen coloring for kids. Short movie clips for adults to learn what modern apostles teach our about Christ in Jerusalem. Also a movie room to watch spiritual films as a family. We watched about how the Book of Mormon was translated. I also really like the larger than life statue of the resurrected Christ reminding us that he was crucified for us.

A beautiful place with a wonderful atmosphere. You're not too far from the busy freeway, but you'd never know it! People there are super great about answering questions about it's history and significance. The grounds are well kept
